Grundarfjörður

Grundarfjörður
Grundarfjordur is a picturesque fishing village of 920 inhabitants. It is also home to the landmark Mount Kirkjufell. The village is also embraced by an impressive mountain range called Helgrindur (Gates of Hell) and flanked on both sides by many beautiful waterfalls which are within easy walking distance from town and port. Its central location on the north coast of the peninsula makes it the perfect gateway to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, considered by many to be one of the seven energy centres of the earth. Cruise passengers are given a warm welcome by way of an interactive Viking show hosted by the local youth.
